The final results of the 2010 Democratic and Republican party primary elections came down to the tedious task of counting about 800 mail-in ballots to determine the winners in the Democratic Race for County Clerk and the Republican Race for County Commissioner Precinct 2.
By a margin of 154 votes -- 145 of which came from mail in ballots — Douglas Godinich defeated Brandy Chapman for the County Clerk race. Godinich will face Republican Dwight Sullivan in the general election in November. Godinich held just a nine vote lead after all of the ballot boxes had been counted.
Businessman Kevin O'Brien edged out deputy constable Joe Giusti in the race for the Republican nomination for County Commissioner Precinct 2. O'Brien's victory was by just 33 votes. He faces Democrat Bryan Lamb, who was unopposed in his bid for his second term as county commissioner.
