"Rent," the Broadway Masterpiece, at Island ETC March 5th thru April 3rd, 2010 "Rent" is the modern-day version of Puccini's classic 1896 opera "La Boheme." It is the story of love and loyalty among starving artists in New York City's East Village as they struggle to survive and find love and hope. Dealing with today's controversial issues such as homelessness, AIDS, and drug addiction, "Rent" is a story of hope and compassion. Showtimes Thursday thru Saturday 8pm, and Sunday 2:30pm.
"Cat Tails, Dog Tails, and Cocktails: An Evening for the Animals" at Isle Convention Center March 12th Don't miss the special preview to the annual Galveston Island Home & Garden Show, "Cat Tails, Dog Tails and Cocktails: An Evening for the Animals," Friday, March 12th, 6pm to 8:30 pm. Galveston Isle Home & Garden Show Kicks Off March 13th The 22nd Annual Galveston Home & Garden Show will return to The Galveston Island Convention Center at the San Luis Resort, March 13th & 14th. The annual benefit for the Galveston Island Humane Society, the Home & Garden Show is a showcase of goods and services available for the home, inside and out. Furnishings, pools and spas, contractors, kitchen gadgets, interior designers, elevators, plants, landscape designers, and pet supplies will be featured in more than 100 booths and exhibits. The show is an ideal opportunity to see the latest in home improvements and to meet local suppliers.
"Bird Migration" is Theme for Ocean Star Family Day March 13th Family Days occur on the second Saturday of each month from 10am to 3pm. Today's theme is "Bird Migration." Starting in March and lasting through May, thousands of birds pass through Galveston for their spring migration. Many of these birds will stop over at oil rigs in the Gulf for rest.
